90 North Managing Partner on the Road to Raise Money for CALM

Press releases

Embarking on the challenge of a lifetime, father and son team Philip (Founder and Managing Partner of 90 North) and William Churchill will be driving 24,901 miles around the world in their Aston Martin, which will see their Vantage World Tour cross 35 countries. They aim to raise at least £24,901 (£1 for every mile of the Earth’s equator) for suicide prevention charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), who last year had over 3 million minutes of potentially lifesaving calls via their helpline and webchat services.

Their 2023 Challenge is to drive from Pall Mall to Panama, and having departed from the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall in London at the end of February, the Aston Martin will soon reach New York before their longest leg of the year culminates in Cancun, Mexico at the end of the Easter holidays. Returning in October, they will complete their challenge at the Panama Canal 10,800 miles later.

Philip commented: “We want to raise awareness of the shocking statistics, as while a passion for cars is predominantly a male pastime, men also account for 75% of all suicides in the UK. CALM is working to prevent suicides, the largest killer of men under 50 in the UK, and so the Vantage World Tour is raising money to support their work.”

William added: “After two years of planning and what was a short hop from London to Liverpool at the end of February, we are looking forward to getting stuck into some proper driving, with 5,500 miles across the United States and Mexico ahead of us. With the car having driven from Tokyo to London in 2007, it feels good to be continuing its journey west.”

Tragically 125 lives are lost every week in the UK to suicide, and 75% of them are male. CALM exists to change this by provoking conversation, running life-saving services, and bringing people together so they reject living miserably, get help when they need it and don’t die by suicide.

Simon Gunning, CEO at CALM said: “We’re honoured that Philip and William have taken on a challenge of a lifetime to support CALM. The lengths our supporters go to in order to raise funds and awareness for our cause is staggering, and enables us to continue to be there for whoever is struggling. We wish them the best of luck with their monumental challenge.”

Philip and William would like to thank all their corporate and individual sponsors, including 90 North, Hiffman National, Ice Miller, NAI Hiffman and Trowers & Hamlins, for their very generous support, with all monies going to CALM. More than £11,500 has been raised already, and to donate to the Vantage World Tour in support of CALM, the link is www.justgiving.com/vantageworldtour.
