Vantage World Tour Reaches the Southern Hemisphere

Press releases

Having flown their Aston Martin across the Darien Gap between Panama and Colombia in July last year, a suspension breakage on the second day of driving in South America cut their planned summer leg short, but returning to Colombia at the end of last year, our Managing Partner Philip and his son William have now reached the Southern Hemisphere.

Driving 2,000 miles from Medellin, Colombia to Lima, Peru, their route successfully covered Colombia, before climbing up into the Andes in Ecuador, including being more 10,000 feet up for several days, crossing the equator and dropping down to the Sechura Desert on the Pacific hugging road south through Peru.

Thankfully a complete power failure in Colombia was diagnosed as an easily fixed loose earth cable, and despite often pothole filled roads and speed bumps that were impossible to clear without scraping the car, they made it to Lima without further incident.

The Vantage World Tour has now visited twelve countries since leaving London in February 2023, covering more than 12,000 miles and raising more than £24,000 for the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (“CALM”), which fights suicide, the largest killer of men under 50 in the UK. Philip and William plan to return in June, with a 4,000 mile leg down through Peru, Chile and Argentina to Ushuaia, the most southerly point of the Americas, and all before the worst of the Southern Hemisphere winter hits.
